What is coaching?
Coaching is a two-way, supportive relationship aimed at helping you achieve a specific goal. A great coach will be encouraging and constructive, always making sure your goals are achievable and that you stay on track to achieve them. A coach has an objective view and will help you in a different way to your family and friends. Studies show that you are 80% more likely to achieve a goal when you have a coach than if you go it alone.
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro (the brain) Linguistic (language) Programming (patterns of behaviour). It breaks down the strategies, behaviours and thoughts that people use. Once we understand how we do something we can change it. We can replicate how someone else has done something successfully and achieve excellence in any field. It is different from counselling and therapy as NLP practitioners are much more interested in helping you to move forward and find solutions, rather than discussing the past.
What is hypnotherapy?
There are a lot of strange ideas about what hynotherapy is. What it ISN’T is stage hypnosis, so there will be no making you act like a chicken. I’m not entirely sure why anyone would want to make someone act like a chicken anyway. Hypnotherapy can appear far less dramatic than stage hypnosis, but with equally incredible results. It accesses a state of mind that we go into all the time. It is a time of relaxation where we drift off and time passes quickly without us being aware of it. Being lost in a book, a daydream, while driving to a familiar destination – these patterns are so familiar we do them unconsciously.
What can be helped?
Studies have shown NLP and Hypnotherapy to have a positive effect on anxiety, insomnia, boosting self esteem and self-confidence, weight loss, allergies, IBS, phobias, memory, concentration, spelling, motivation, achieving goals, improved performance, stopping smoking, breaking bad habits, pain, improving health.
Will it help me?
While every person is different, everyone is in a state of mind all the time, whether that is happy or angry, calm or stressed, motivated or lethargic. We all know how to be in a state of mind, what we often find is that we are not in the most useful one.
What can I expect?
Every session is different, depending on what the client needs. However there is a basic structure which involves taking a brief history, finding out what you want to achieve and working out a plan to help you achieve it.This may involve challenging some of your beliefs about yourself! Be prepared for some interesting questions and the opportunity to make massive changes in your life!
Will I be conscious?
Yes you will be conscious and aware.
Will I remember what has happened?
Yes you will. Like any conversation and experience, there may be occasional things that you do not take in, but I do not practice any amnesia inducing techniques.
Will you make me do anything I don’t want to do?
In a word, no! You will be in control at all times and can stop the session at any time. I cannot make you do anything you do not wish to, and as a member of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy and NLP, I am bound by their Code of Ethics.
How many sessions will I need?
Change is instantaneous. Usually one or two sessions is all that is needed to make massive changes. Things which have been issues for years may be resolved within a session.
For pure coaching and goal setting some clients like to have a regular coach with whom they can check in on a regular basis. We will discuss this during your initial phone enquiry.
Where do you practice?
My consultancy is based near Old Street and Farringdon, a stone’s throw from the City of London. I also offer phone coaching, e-coaching and have clients as far away as California using Skype!
